This beautiful carving by Ray Thompson of Coquitlam, B.C., Canada, features powerful images from the American West pioneer days. Measures 18 x 4.5 x 4.5, priced at $345. Full title inscribed on the back reads “A Great Land, Native Canadian, Voyageur, and friends”, followed by signature and date of 11-2006.

A native person’s face is turned skyward at top, an abstract buffalo head and hooves emerge from the side, and at the bottom a bearded pioneer mountain man is depicted with a howling wolf nearby. The carving is so skillfully executed, the details and expressions are compelling. A very moving moment in time is captured.
